The Minister of state,Budget and National planning,Zainab Ahmed says the federal government has pledged it's support and commitment in working together with international humanitarian community in combating problems facing internally displaced persons( IDPs) in the North East of Nigeria.
This was made known at the launching of the 2017 humanitarian response plan for Northeast Nigeria organised by the United Nation, in Abuja.

She said the federal government has committed substantial resources to combating insecurity as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction of basic infrastructures destroyed including schools, medical facilities markets and essential provision to the most affected people.
Deputy Humanitarian Co-ordinator for United Nations office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Peter Lundberg, says the 2017 humanitarian response plan for Nigeria seeks more than US $1 billion to address the needs of those in crisis in the three states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe with 75 partners ready to respond to the affected areas in Northeast of Nigeria.
Peter Lundberg also revealed that the plan seeks to address the needs of almost 7 million people in dire needs of nutrition , food, shelter, health education ,water and sanitation of a very vulnerable population.
He said the humanitarian crisis can no longer be ignored and he appeals to the international communities to intervene in order to prevent the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians in the next one year.
On behalf of the federal Government Zainab Ahmed, appreciated the effort of the United nations and Nigerians particularly those of the North East who have endured untold suffering and now beginning to see ray of hope in the horizon.
