Being the last review for 2016, we have decided to feature two hot selling movies at the cinemas, The Wedding Party and Three Wise Men.

 Wedding party:

Synopsis: Set in Lagos, Nigeria, ‘The Wedding Party’ is the story of Dunni Coker (Adesua Etomi), a 24 year old art gallery owner and only daughter of her parents about to marry the love of her life, IT entrepreneur Dozie (Banky W). The couple took a vow of chastity and is looking forward to a ground-breaking first night together as a married couple. (Wrtitten by FilmHouse Cinemas)

Starring: Alibaba Akporobome, Zainab Balogun, Daniella Down, Iretiola Doyle, Emmanuel Edunjobi, Adesua Etomi, Kunle Idowu, Ayo Makun, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Beverly Naya, Enyinna Nwigwe, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Sola Sobowale, Banky W.

Verdict: Massive! All hail Nollywood! 'The Wedding Party' is a Solid Strike; a definite Nollywood Triumph. And a definite must watch. This beautiful piece of Art, is the best comedy we've seen out of Nollywood in well over two years. It is a bonafide joy to see. You don't want to miss this. Trust us!

'The Wedding Party' is awesomely exhilarating. If you are Nigerian, or you get Nigerian, then you sure will laugh your heart out to the unstoppable combo of heavy hitters this comic giant doles out in unrelenting fashion.

It's got a somewhat exaggerated story, but boasts a solid script and very well thought out dialogue. From scene to scene, it's a never stopping barrage of hearty laughter, loud quips, thundering claps and bruising excitement. Nollywood wins Big on this one.

And we can confidently tell you, it's worth every penny, even on a double serving- We saw it twice in one weekend. And loved it twice!

Go for it. Absolutely recommended!
The three wise men

Synopsis: After many years of service in different government parastatals, the three aged men are retired and they all settled in a suburb to enjoy their retirement benefits. How they decide to spend this retirement money remains highly humorous and dramatic.

Starring: Richard Mofe Damijo, ZacK Orji, Tina Mba, Ebele Okaro, Victor Olaotan.

Verdict: Delicious! And genuinely funny. 'Three Wise Men' is a romp fest of comic dialogue, that is the most brilliant we have seen out of Nollywood in a very long time. Simply put, this is the funniest Nollywood as offered in cinemas in what seems like forever; specifically, since 'North East'.

And so, we aren't ashamed to say it- We expected this to be a dud; with three grown men making a fool of themselves. But boy! Were we wrong. With a simple straight forward story and no time wasting, the producers managed to pack in enough sucker punches to get us Laughing Out Loud, hard, literally, and many, many times over.

'Three Wise Men' turned out to be truly entertaining and mostly well thought out. "Mostly" because of its appalling end, so distinct from the rest of the movie, in its lack of humour that, it's hard to understand, why they chose to kill the flow and ruin the fun like that, at the very end? Seems like the producers had a guilt trip, out of hand, they decided to force in an extra scene to soothe their conscience(s). Unfortunately, whilst it might have soothe consciences, it soured the fun for the rest of us.

Ah well! We still recommend it. Go for it!
