Katsina Ministry of Education suspends teachers' screening exercise ‘indefinitely’


The Katsina State government has finally bowed to pressure and succumbed to the State House of Assembly's directive earlier on that upcoming screening exercise of teachers scheduled to hold between 1st May to 3rd May be suspended.

This is contained in a statement issued by the ministry’s public relation officer (PRO) Alhaji Salisu Lawal Kerau.
The statement reads that:
“The general public is hereby informed that the screening exercise for replacement of teachers which was earlier scheduled to hold from Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd May, 2017 has been postponed.”
The statement continued that: “A new date would be announced later.
Recall that the Katsina state house of Assembly had earlier directed the state ministry of education to suspend the upcoming screening exercise scheduled for the recruitment of over 1900 teaching jobs across the state. According to the directives, the exercise will be averted pending to the time when a committee constituted for investigation submit it report to the house.
According to the lawmakers, the action taken was based on the series of complains received from the constituents that misappropriations were recorded during the selection process.
