APC's Rotimi Akeredolu declared winner of Ondo state governorship election

INEC has declared APC candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, winner of the Ondo state governorship election held yesterday November 26th. According to INEC's returning officer, Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali, Akeredolu pulled off 244,842 votes to defeat PDP's Eyitatyo Jegede with 150,380 votes and Olusola Oke of the AD who scored 126,889 votes.






80 couples wed at St. Sylvester's Catholic Church Nyanya, Nasarawa State


80 couples received their sacrament of matrimony blessings on Sunday, November 27th, at St Sylvester's Catholic Church, New Nyanya in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa Statexx The Holy Mass was officiated by His Lordship, Most Revd Dr Ishaya Mathew Audu, Catholic bishop of Lafia Diocese, Nasarawa State. In a statement signed by the public relations officer the Church, Ewache Ajefu, the church said that the ceremony was unique and historic in the history of St. Sylvester Catholic Church.




6 soldiers wounded, 30 Boko Haram terrorists killed in failed ambush on convoy in Borno State




Troops attached to the 121 Task Force Battalion killed 20 Boko Haram terrorist on Saturday, November 26th. The troops were escorting local government officials including the Caretaker committee chairman of Gwoza Local Government Council, Hon. Saeed Salisu Sambo and travellers from Pulka to Maiduguri when the terrorists ambushed the convoy.







Final year student of UNN allegedly commits suicide






Sad news emanating from the University of Nigeria Nsukka has it that a final year Agric Economics student committed suicide. 
According to his friend Nwachukwu Daniel Ikechukwu,who posted the photo on Facebook today, the young man allegedly killed himself over debt.
 He also lost some money to betting. Some of his friends don't believe he killed himself over money though.




Militants blow up gas pipeline in Delta



Unknown gunmen suspected to be militants, on Sunday blew up a pipeline in Delta State.

The pipeline is operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC in Delta State.

However, no separatist group from the oil rich region has claimed responsibility for the attack.


The attack was confirmed to vanguard by the Ughelli South council Chairman, Mr Paul Etaga.

Etaga said the pipeline popularly known as Abura line, was bombed at about 7:30am on Sunday morning.

Etaga disclosed that he visited the site of the incident in company of the Commanding Officer 222 battalion, Agbaraha-Otor, Lt. Col U. S Abdulsalam, the Ughelli South Division Police Officer, Oghenedoro Samuel and heads of other security agencies in the area visited the scene of the blast.

According to Etaga, the inferno from the blast has been curtailed by fire fighters drafted from the Otor-ogun Gas plant in Ughelli South.


He said, “Though no arrest has been made, the security agencies are currently investigating the incident and are on the heels of the perpetrators so as to bring them to book.”





APC is out to create jobs, restore Nigeria’s economy – Buhari



President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said the All Progressives Congress, APC, is out to create jobs and restore the economy the country.

Buhari’s remark was contained in a statement congratulating the governor-elect of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Buhari in the statement by his Media Aide, Femi Adesina, described Akeredolu’s victory at the Saturday’s governorship election in the state as “a well-deserved victory.”

The President also congratulated the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, the Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, and all party faithful who worked towards the victory of the party in Ondo State.

He said, “From the beginning, this election set out to be a different kind of election. The unity and resilience of the party was tested. I am happy we came out of this victorious.

“This is a huge win. The mood today is against corruption, insecurity and for the restoration of the economy and the creation of jobs. This is where the party stands and I am happy that the electorate has read the situation correctly.”
