‘My Original Onscreen Wifey’ – RMD celebrates Ego Boyo in a beautiful way
No Kid from the 1990s can forget in a hurry, Anne Hastorpe and Segun Kadiri; roles played by veterans- Ego Boyo and Richard Mofe Damijo in the hit TV drama; Checkmate.
RMD took time out to give a super-cute birthday shout-out to his ‘original onscreen wifey’ who was a year older yesterday.
Travelling down memory lane, the actor and lawyer welled up feelings of nostalgia in fans with his love note, reminding many of us why we hoped they would translate that onscreen romance to real-life all those years ago.
“I remember walking into the room 20 something odd years ago and was introduced to a young lady who went to my school (Uniben),” he started off.
“It was the start of Checkmate which marked our first work relationship. Then it was Violated and much later, Keeping Faith. Each time we were “lit” like the young folks would say -lol- Happy birthday my “original onscreen wifey” @officialegoboyo I pray God’s grace continues to shine forth in your life and I look forward to our next project together, just because we can. Have a very great year ahead. God bless and keep you my very own Anne Hartrope”
Many fans could not hide the mushy feelings this brought back and expressed a strong desire to see the dynamic duo of RMD and Ego Boyo light up the screen together again.
Ego Boyo also upped the cuteness several notches when she stepped into the comment section, writing, “@mofedamijo awww hallo dear. Thank you screen hubby” complete with kissing emojis.
This only made us more pained that they didn’t end up together.
