Power : Reps. to probe alleged fraudulent sale of power assets.



The house of Representatives has summoned the bureau of public enterprise, the Nigerian electricity regulatory commission, the ministry of power, the transmission company of Nigeria and other stakeholder in the power sector over the alleged fraudulent and non transparent sale of power assets by the bureau of public enterprise.

The resolution emanated from the debated motion on the need to investigate the alleged non transparent sale of power assets moved on the floor of the house on Wednesday 14th October 2015.

Chairman of the adhoc committee Ahmed Idris explained that owing the need to ensure efficiency and effective performance of the sector ,the federal government  resolved to privatize the sector but there seem to be no advantage of the action taken by the government.

He said having waited for long, the committee is poised to discharge it's function without any fear of favor  as it is determined to serve the interest of the Nigerian people.

The public hearing is however to hold on Wednesday 7th  December where all stakeholders in the sector will  appear before the committee to provide the necessary information that will enable the committee resolve the anomalies in the power sector.
